This autobiographical story of a daughter, sister, wife, friend, mother, and grandmother follows Atu from the town of Debre Markos, Ethiopia, to Addis Ababa under the reign of the Communist Derg, to North Dakota, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, South Carolina, and North Carolina in the United States.The constant thread through it all is the faithfulness of God and the remarkable ways He guided her, provided for her, and used her on both continents to be a vessel of His light and love for the hurting and the less fortunate. Starting with her mother, Emeye, this story reveals God’s love for each of us and how a willing and compassionate heart can be used to bring change and help to others.Atalfim Mengistu Bekele (Atu) is a dedicated wife, mother of three adult children, and grandmother of six. She and her husband currently split their time between their residences in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Charlotte, North Carolina.
